Protocol for BDSM starts with respect for knowledge and listening to others.

Aftercare
(1) After a BDSM scene, particularly a demanding one, the Top should make sure the bottom is OK and is returned to normal from his/her high endorphin level (often called “subspace”) that BDSM scenes often cause.
(c) Almost mandatory for all parties of a scene to recover from the psychological and biochemical "rush" or "high" and to prevent a "crash" from "top drop" / "bottom drop"; usually consists of nonsexual intimacy.

where "Aftercare" is the term being defined, the indented text is a definition or explanation of the term, and (1), is to indicate this is from the source 1, in this case, "www.kinkweekly.com" and (c) is the commentary of the Archivist, usually listed last in the series of sources. If an acronym also applies, the acronym is listed second, i.e., Adult Babies, AB, unless the acronym is being defined, i.e., BDSM, where the meaning has no one consistent set of terms.

Grammarly is used for consistency with US standard English spelling, grammar, and readability. Additionally, standard formatting is enforced using the dictionary features (<dl>, <dt>, <dd>), bolding of defined terms (<b>), using emphasis (<em>) to identify non-defining notes and references, and separating text with line breaks (<br />). Consequently, the definitions are not exact quotes. If a term has varying spellings, the US standard English (Grammarly, Apple dictionary) spelling will be listed first. Likewise, US standard English spelling will be used in the descriptions, i.e., color instead of colour. Sources will vary between ALLCAPs, all-lowercase, and Proper Case in stating a term, sometimes within the same source. For consistency, the Archivist has chosen to use Proper Case when entering terms that are defined. As such, the entries are rarely precise quotations. Instead, the source is used to give direction on the entries. This is especially true for Wikipedia-cited items, where other articles than the one for the cited terms are used to quickly and more fully give explanations of the terms used and cited. Various sources may have similar or verbatim versions, however, the goal is to obtain the definitions, and not to select or weed out "duplicates."

Note: Text from entries are dated, especially those available through arcuive.org, and seem to be based more on a male dom and/or female submissive exclusively rather than a more pansexual viewpoint, i.e., ignoring male submissives, ignoring homosexual possibilities. Entries have been alphabetized using US standard English conventions.

The Sources were archived in August, and September 2021. When extracting from Archive.org, the first, useful, page is used regardless of earlier or later versions that may have differing text. Links referencing an Archive.org page have been tested but may not be the "latest and greatest" before the site closed.

The first found use of a term is included regardless of any differences in later or earlier texts or a text available on another of the family of sites. When significant differences, more than one entry may be included but this can not be assured. The term is included regardless of which wiki it may exist on because the link to some archived wiki's terms will refer to a different site's wiki.
