The Naked House Boy is required to learn and obey a variety of basic commands that can be given by a Master or – sometimes – other persons when permitted by these rules. One of these commands is the ‘Sit’ command. At home (or elsewhere indoors), this command requires the boy to seat himself at the nearest chair or suitable furniture, unless the boy does not have furniture privileges for some reason (in which case he seats himself on the floor).

When the 'Sit’ command is given at any outdoor location, the boy is required to seat himself immediately at his current location, unless the command is accompanied by a location where the boy is to move to be seated. Examples of this are 'Sit on the Boulder’ or 'Sit’ (accompanied by a hand signal pointing at a park bench or other suitable seating location).

When a 'Sit’ command is given outdoors with no instruction for a location to move to, the boy is to seat himself immediately regardless of circumstance. His buttocks should make contact with the ground or other surface (such as pavement or sidewalk) and he should keep his legs spread sufficiently that he does not conceal his genital area (whether he is clothed or naked). His legs may be bent at the knees and his arms should be at his sides. The boy may choose to place his hands under his buttocks to cushion his buttocks from heat or uneven ground if he wishes, and he should be seated in the dir coin if the Master unless told otherwise. An exception is made of a sit command is made near the after at an ocean beach, in which case the boy should seat himself facing the water so he can see any approaching waves.

The 'Sit’ command is usually followed by either the 'Wait’ command or an activity involving the boy’s face or scalp, like a haircut, lunch out, or a mouth inspection. When given as a demonstration command, it may be preceded and followed by a series of pointless commands like 'Stand’, 'Turn Around’, 'Kneel’, 'Squat’, and 'Sit’ (again) to show that the boy is obedient and attentive. Violation for failing to execute demonstration commands is limited to a single swat bare hand on the boy’s buttocks for each command missed – or a verbal warning at the Master’s discretion – otherwise refusal to 'Sit, when told will result in forced compliance. House Boys are subject to a possible Buttocks Inspection following any 'Sit’ command given outdoors on a sandy or dirty surface.
