The Master’s House Boy is required to serve naked at home and has no right to privacy, regardless of who may be present. If the boy fails to obey the rules or meet expectations, he is subject to loss of privileges or punishment. Discipline is usually by spanking, with more serious violations bringing harsher punishment.

In the example photo, a misbehaving House Boy is receiving a Level Two Spanking in the ‘Knees on Chair’ position. Spanking at this level is unrestrained but requires the use of an implement. Examples of implements include a belt, ruler, brush, shoe, and paddle. The Master tends to use a paddle when the boy has committed a serious or disrespectful violation or when punishment has been deferred because it wasn’t possible to discipline the boy immediately after he misbehaved. Paddles may be of various sizes and styles, and the boy will be shown which paddle is going to be used and told how many swats will be applied prior to commencement of discipline.

The boy is always naked when spanked (though footwear may be worn), and he has no right to privacy even if house guests are present when discipline is carried out. Once the sentence is announced, the boy will be told to kneel and present the target area, which will be inspected by the Master or a guest to ensure that there are no open cuts or sores which might make a different implement more appropriate. The boy will call out each swat by number until the sentence is complete. Swats miscounted or not counted out loud may result in additional swats to complete sentence, at the Master’s option. Following the spanking, the boy’s buttocks should be inspected again and, if necessary, treated with topical medication. Spanking strength is intended to cause temporary stinging and redness but not to break the skin or cause any harm (except emotionally).

Responsible and obedient House Boys will never receive punishment at this level, and the Master has had boys serve for long periods of time who never earn any spankings. House Boys who lack self-control or suffer from inner brattiness, however, will become familiar with this level of discipline. The boy’s actions determine whether this punishment is merely a page in the rule book for guests to laugh about or a reality for them to observe. Guests will not be permitted to administer punishment at this level without reading safety guidelines or observing an actual Level Two punishment first.
