Corrective Action – Posture and Positioning
Corrective Actions are necessary reactions to situations that may not be punishable but need to be responded to promptly. In the example shown, the House Boy has been observed to be using improper posture after being called to ‘Report’ (See below, Report Position, Rule #211).
Corrective Actions take place when needed, regardless of who may be present and could observe. In this case, the Master uses ‘Hands On’ to position the boy properly to comply with the protocol. The boy will sometimes be given the 'Freeze’ command prior to hands-on assistance, and other times may simply be interrupted for correction. Hands-On assistance may be used to move or position any body part, but is always gentle since it is not intended as punishment.
The House Boy is subject to additional inspection during or after this procedure. Failure to cooperate and maintain a teachable attitude will subject the boy to punishment instead of correction. Any person temporarily supervising the boy at home may use Hands-On Correction when needed.
