Although most of the House Boy’s duties and time are spent at home or nearby, the Master sometimes travels for business or recreation. When the boy is traveling with the Master, the boy is responsible for carrying suitcases and bags inside the hotel and to the room or suite. This saves the Master the need to tip an employee and also prevents awkward situations, since the boy may be ordered to strip immediately upon entering the room or suite. The Master will carry a single bag if necessary, to prevent the use of an employee for this service, but when there is too much to carry Master may choose to use Hotel Services rather than task the boy to return to the car or tip a second person (like a taxi driver) to assist.

As with any rule, the House Boy is never required to be naked unless he is someplace where nudity is legal or traditional. In the example pictured, we can assume that the Master and boy are arriving at a Clothing Optional Resort on a Private Drive, because if this was a public street in a community it’s where nudity is legal then the boy would be permitted to wear clothing or covering of Master’s choice. (Footwear is always optional).

This rule also applies to accommodations at other types of lodging, including private residences, bed, and breakfasts, cruise ships, hostels, etc.
