During the warm weather season when the pool is maintained for daily use, the Naked House Boy may be assigned Lap Swimming, Water Exercises, or participate in recreational swimming. Any boy who earns punishment is subject to immediate enforcement, regardless of who may be present and could observe. The Master has the option – but is never required – to defer punishment until a later time when guests have left. For safety reasons, the boy will never be spanked while he is actually in the pool, except at the pool’s edge as shown in the example photo. Only bare hand spankings may be carried out in this manner, and the boy will be permitted to exit the water completely for any spanking which calls for enhancement, restraining, or use of an implement. This type of discipline is almost always carried out inside the house.

Nothing in this rule is to be interpreted as giving the boy any right to privacy. If punishment is moved inside, pool guests will not be prevented from following the boy inside to observe, so long as they properly dry off. Visitors who ask may be told what the boy did wrong and the punishment he is to receive, even if the punishment is deferred until another time.
