During the summer season and anytime the prevailing outdoor temperature is 75 degrees or greater, the House Boy may be ordered to receive spot cleaning while outdoors on the Master’s property. The purpose of Spot Cleaning is to quickly and easily make the House Boy presentable in the event of a spill or some other situation that requires a quick clean but not necessarily a full shower.

When Spot Cleaning of any body part is ordered by the Master, the boy shall immediately complete any task he is doing and report to the nearest hose or spray area. Water pressure must be turned at least halfway to high unless directed otherwise or when doing so would present a health or safety hazard. Water temperature must always be left at the coldest setting, even when warm water is available. Pressure must be maintained for a minimum of 30 seconds or until the designated area is cleaned, regardless of circumstances. This is an assigned chore and will take place regardless of who may be present and could observe.

When Spot Cleaning is requested by someone other than the Master, the boy shall attempt to report to the Master that a request for cleaning has been made, and the Master will decide whether cleaning should proceed. The boy is not permitted to interrupt the Master if a personal task or conversation is in progress. If for any reason the Master does not order within three minutes that the Spot Cleaning should be delayed or canceled, the order for the boy to Spot Clean shall be considered proper and enforceable and the boy must obey the order immediately or be subject to punishment.

In the example pictured, a House Boy has been directed to spot clean his penis, which became soiled while showing a guest the garden area. Having observed a spot of dirt on the boy’s body, the guest directed the boy to perform spot cleaning. Since the Master was on a cell call at the time the boy became soiled, the order to clean must be obeyed as if it came from the Master himself.

House Boys are permitted to request assistance with his task as long as arranging assistance does not cause any delay over three minutes in completing the cleaning. No more than three back-to-back requests for Spot Cleaning may be assigned by anyone other than the Master in a single day. A fourth request for Spot Cleaning will be treated the same as a request for the boy to undergo a bath or shower.
