When the Naked House Boy is in a public setting where clothing is required, the Master will loan the boy clothing or covering to comply with dress codes. The Master will sometimes provide a complete outfit to wear but is not obligated to do so. While the Master does not intentionally try to embarrass a well-behaved boy, the Master chooses clothing and coverings based on practical reasons even if those choices cause the boy to feel underclothed or embarrassed. Selection of clothing or covering – other than the requirement that it cover the minimum body parts or meet private dress codes in businesses and at events –is entirely up to the Master’s discretion.

The decision if clothing is suitable is made when the clothing is issued. Items provided need only cover the necessary body parts while standing, seated properly, or walking through the house. Outside the home, it is the boy’s responsibility to ensure that his activity does not cause the clothing to become unsuitable. The boy may be required to take an overt action (like holding sagging pants up) to keep properly covered since the House Boy is also not permitted to wear underwear.

In the example pictured, the House Boy is carrying items for the Master to a friend’s apartment from a parking garage three blocks away. After dropping off the Master at his friend’s, the boy chooses not to take two trips carrying the items and instead overloads himself to the point that he fails to notice his blue jeans sagging down over his buttocks. While the mere display of buttocks is not illegal in California, the boy will have to deal with the consequences of the malfunction.

The Master’s Rules do state that a boy can be punished with a Level One Spanking any time a clothing malfunction is reported, or at Level Two (deferred to returning home) if the Master personally observes the violation, though the Master tends to overlook minor violations that are not reported. On this occasion, the boy only had to deal with a few snarky comments from some ladies walking behind him, and the Master was never aware of the exposure.
