Security & Privacy – See / Hear / Speak: ‘No Evil’
It is a primary rule that House Boys must mind their own business and take seriously the security and privacy of the Master and his friends, co-workers, house guests, and other visitors and acquaintances. This includes not disclosing or revealing private or professional conversations or discussing the financial status or personal business of anyone in the Master’s life, nor engage in any action or conversation or passive failure to protect inappropriate information exchange without the permission of all involved. In other words, what happens at the Master’s home, stays at the Master’s home.
The House Boy shall “Hear No Evil”, “See No Evil” and “Speak No Evil” about the Master or anyone else in the Master’s circle of acquaintances, except when an emergency exists that presents an immediate danger to life or property or failure to act would be a clear and felonious violation of the law (See ‘Paramount Rule’). House Boys who agree to serve are bound by this rule and continue to be bound by it even after leaving service. The Master will exercise his right to release the boy from this obligation only when the benefit of doing so exceeds the negatives and only after considerable thought has been given.
House Boys also are expected to give the same consideration to other House Boys (and their circle of acquaintances) as they give to any other guest. No boy shall disclose the activities, thoughts, or affairs of any other current, former, or prospective House Boy without specific permission of the Master or the boy himself.
