House Boys are assigned a variety of duties and chores on a regular and periodic basis and are subject to a range of punishments for misbehavior or failure to meet expectations. The most common discipline is by spanking on the boy’s bare bottom. It is a rule that the House Boy is never permitted to use reddened buttocks as an excuse to delay or avoid any duty or chore, regardless of circumstances.

The Master realizes that there may be times when a house guest who is unfamiliar with the boy’s discipline rules may be present while a boy with reddened buttocks goes about his duties and chores – and that this may generate curiosity or questions – and the Master has decided that the proper discipline and training of the House Boy is more important than preventing any visitor from viewing the reddened buttocks of a boy who has misbehaved. Likewise, if this causes the boy embarrassment or humiliation, then it should serve as a lesson to the boy that the consequences of failing to meet expectations can continue beyond the actual punishment.

When a visitor brings to the Master’s attention that the boy’s buttocks are red, the Master may instruct the boy to report for a Buttocks Inspection, to determine if over-the-counter treatment such as antiseptic or ointment is needed. The Master may ask the visitor who made the report to participate in the inspection and help decide if topical medication is needed.

Guests who question the Master about the reason that the boy’s buttocks are reddened will be told only that the boy has misbehaved, and if the boy is asked directly then he is expected to respond the same way. Follow-up questions to the boy should always be referred to the Master unless the person asking the question correctly speculates on what the boy did to deserve the spanking. Any guest who – after seeing a boy’s reddened buttocks – asks the Master directly about the House Boy’s rules and discipline will be permitted to view the rules in their entirety.
