Hand Signal – Index Finger To Face
The placement of the Master’s index finger pointing toward the face of the House Boy signifies an Official Warning that the boy has failed to meet expectations and serious discipline looms. This hand signal may or may not be accompanied by verbal instructions or correction. Any negative facial expression, interruption, failure to cooperate, or other inappropriate response by the boy will trigger discipline, as will failure to heed instructions or meet expectations. The boy should maintain eye contact if the Master speaks. In the example pictured, the House Boy has already been given the Clasp Hands Command, and the Master is warning the boy that Level Two punishment is imminent.
