Rules and Protocols – Use of Appropriate Terminology

House Boys are required to use only Appropriate Terminology when discussing the human body at all times. This standardizes conversation so that profane language is not used in public, and maintains a gentlemanly demeanor at home with visitors present. Slang may only be used when repeating the words of another, including media like television or a book, or when the boy is specifically told that slang is permitted or required.

Because the House Boy is not allowed privacy, Master will not self-censor questions or conversations that could be embarrassing to the boy in public settings like restaurants or while shopping. Master will pose questions and carry on conversations using appropriate terms as an example to the boy. This means that the boy while accompanying Master ordering drinks at Starbucks, may be asked, “Did you wash your penis and testicles after working in the garden this morning?“ but Master would never refer to a boy’s “cock and balls”. The boy, of course, is expected to reply in a full sentence using appropriate words: “Yes, I washed my penis and testicles after working in the garden this morning…”

Proper terms for other commonly mentioned body parts include buttocks, anus, testicles, and perineum (for the area between scrotum and anus). These same guidelines hold true for bodily functions, and the boy should use terms like urine, stool, and ejaculation instead of their slang alternatives. The use of the word butt is considered an abbreviation for buttocks and is not slang, but if the Master in line at Starbucks questions the boy about his anus and receives a response that includes the word butthole, the boy would be punished.

Violations are subject to a one swat Level One punishment after a warning, which resets daily. Each additional use of an inappropriate term will add an additional swat, and enforcement may be deferred until the end of the day at the Master’s discretion. Intentional use may be punished as a Level Three Insubordination.
