All rules violations by the Naked House Boy are punished at Level One unless otherwise specified in the rules. Level One Punishment calls for a bare hand spanking on the bare bottom. Discipline usually takes place immediately, regardless of who may be present and could observe. The are several positions that may be used for Level One punishments, and the most common is face down ‘Over The Knee’ which is commonly used for the most minor of violations. The ‘Backwards Over The Knee’ position (See below, Rule #81) is usually chosen by the Master when the boy commits a more serious violation or repeats his misconduct, and is much more explicit with the boy's penis, anus and scrotum on display as he is spanked.

Another method of enforcing discipline is when the Master calls for the Hug Position, shown above. The boy is ordered to face the Master (or whoever will administer discipline) and is held tightly by one arm. The sentence is then carried out with the boy facing away from anyone else who happens to be present. The Master will announce in advance how many swats are to be delivered, but no verbal count is made unless any observers wish to do so. A swat with the bare hand on either or both sides of the buttocks will count as one Level One swat. This position may also be used for Level Two Spankings by using a belt (folded), paddle, or another suitable item like a book, ruler, rolled magazine, or newspaper.

Unless a rule says otherwise, all punishment spankings consist of one to twenty swats, regardless of the Level of Punishment, and the Master has the option to determine how many swats will be assigned. The Master will take into consideration the length of service since collaring, the boy’s previous behavior, his attitude and demeanor, and the recommendations of others who may be present. Although the boy has no right to privacy during discipline, the Master will sometimes use the Hug Position as a means of temporarily concealing the boy’s facial embarrassment or the onset of an erection. Relief is only temporary: The boy is still required to turn around and apologize following punishment (and Corner Time, if so ordered).
