Master’s Philosophy – Addressing Authority
The Naked House Boy’s primary responsibilities include going about his duties and chores properly, obeying all rules and protocols, and wearing and maintaining the proper ‘uniform’, which usually means remaining completely naked – regardless of who may be present and could observe. Footwear is optional.
The Naked House Boy is also required to show deference and respect to authority at all times and in all circumstances. The Master is the Supreme Authority at home and the proper response to a command or order is usually “Yes, Sir”. It is disrespectful for the boy to use slang responses like “Yeah” or “Nah” and the boy is subject to discipline up to a Level Two Spanking for such laziness, though the violation is often overlooked (or the boy is let off with a warning) if it isn’t witnessed by anyone besides the Master. Intentional disrespect is always considered insubordination and subject to Level Three Discipline.
While some Masters are quite strict about requiring the use of the word “Master”, this Master is not. House Boys are authorized and encouraged to instead use the word “Sir” in responding to commands and questions since this term is acceptable both at home or off-property in mixed company. On the rare occasions where formal terminology is required, the boy will be directed to use the word “Master” instead of “Sir”. When addressing authority figures other than the Master, the terms “Sir” and “Ma'am” are appropriate.
At home when guests are not present, the House Boy will not be subject to discipline for failure to respond using the word “Sir” unless the Master first gives a verbal warning. The boy may assume that he is permitted to talk informally (without the use of the word “Sir”) until such a warning is given, except during inspections or disciplinary actions. The boy will *always* use the terms “Sir” or “Ma'am” when speaking to any member of the Master’s family – regardless of their gender or age, whether at home or off the property. If the boy is unsure whether someone is a family member or not, the boy should use the proper term out of an abundance of caution. Disrespecting a member of the Master’s family – whether it be his 90-year-old father, his 48-year-old sister, or his 19-year-old nephew – is a serious offense and will bring discipline.
