The House Boy is required to remain naked at home and has no right to privacy at any time, and he is required to respect the right of guests to carry about their activities without unnecessary disturbance. While the Master does not invite guests over just to stare at the House Boy, there may be times where guests are left unattended while the Master does other things around the house, and visitors are free to free to ‘make themselves at home’ during these times. It is the responsibility of the House Boy to continue with his chores without regard to the activities of guests unless doing so would be unsafe or unnecessarily disturb the guest. Scheduled chores should still be carried out, and a boy on recreation (free) time should continue doing what he was doing, unless the Master or a guest requests something, like a towel or refreshments.

In the example photo, the House Boy has been given permission on a warm fall afternoon to enjoy some free time sunbathing on the back porch, when the Master gets busy on a telephone call with a business associate. The Master suggests to a guest that she watch some television or enjoy the view outside, and she steps out into the porch for some fresh air. After seating herself, the guest decides that the view of the House Boy is more enjoyable than that of the landscape, and she slides around silently to face the boy. Since the House Boy has no right to privacy, no rules have been broken here and the guest should expect to be able to continue enjoying the scenery – whether it be the landscape or the sun and shadow on the boy’s skin – without unnecessary disturbance. The boy should continue sunning himself just as if he was not being observed, otherwise, he could be subject to punishment for disrespecting a house guest. He may get up or speak only if spoken to first or his recreation time ends or carrying out another duty becomes necessary.

The Master’s visitors have the right to observe the House Boy at all times during any activity, whether from a distance or up close and personal, whether the boy is awake or asleep, clothed or naked, moving or still, at work or at play, alone or with others, in any room of the house or outside and during any activity whatsoever, whether embarrassed or not, unless the Master or the rules say otherwise. The Master’s guests come from a variety of backgrounds and lifestyles, and many are educated or creative people like painters, sculptors, biologists, and health care professionals and may be viewed from these perspectives. Any action by the boy which unnecessarily disturbs an observing guest will be punishable as disrespect, and the boy has no right to question any guest about his or her reasons for observation unless invited to do so by the guest or given permission by the Master.

House Boys who are showering, grooming, or applying sunscreen in the presence of others must be careful to follow to appropriate procedure (See Related Rules, below) to avoid punishment for failure protocol.
