Objectification – Display Art

The Naked House Boy may be objectified as any object at any time, and he is required to obey instructions for objectification without hesitation or delay, regardless of time, location, or circumstance. This order is effective instantly, therefore he will have no opportunity to respond or even to ask questions for clarification or instructions. His obligation is to silently obey, period. If he does not understand the command or he needs clarification, the boy should tilt his head slightly with a quizzical look to plead for more information. Regardless of circumstance, it is always the House Boy’s fault if this order is not carried out properly unless the order is unsafe or illegal.

In the example photo, the House Boy has been given the privilege of objectification as a style of Sea Shell Art. This is a high honor, especially when others are present to help create the art or observe. After obeying the Sleep Command (which doesn’t require actual sleep, see below Rule #130) the boy is decorated with an attractive pattern of seashells. Since Display Art is a hands-on project, the boy should expect light physical contact.

Objectification by this Master rarely lasts longer than 20 minutes per session and never more than one hour per calendar day, and is subject to health and safety considerations and – of course – the law of gravity. Guests must ask the Master for approval before attempting to objectify the boy. The Master’s concern for the safety of the House Boy is more important than the Master’s need to objectify the boy for long periods of time.

Other examples of objectification include short-term duty as a piece of furniture, backyard clothesline, tetherball pole, informational sign, whiteboard, or even ‘Pin The Tail’ object for backyard games at home events. Any objects attached to the boy will be placed and removed safely, and any materials used for skin preparation decoration will be safe and leave no permanent effects.
