Interpretation – Use of Medical Devices and Supplies
Master’s House Boy is generally required to serve naked at home but is provided clothing or covering sufficient to meet dress codes in places where nudity is neither legal nor traditional (Rule #1). Master will also make reasonable accommodations for disabled boys who use medical devices like walkers and wheelchairs, even if these devices conceal the view of the penis, scrotum, anus, or perineum while in use (Rule 181).
From time to time, a boy who may not use crutches or a wheelchair may become temporarily disabled and require the use or changing of medical supplies or undergo treatment which may keep him bedridden at home, or on rare occasions a hospital or other care facility. These circumstances and locations are not by themselves exceptions to the boy’s nudity requirement, because nudity is traditionally acceptable and certainly not illegal when receiving medical care, but the medical professionals are in charge and shall determine the extent that the boy will remain exposed or be covered at all times. The boy will not be considered in violation of the nudity rule so long as he never asks for physical privacy of his body at any time, even when staff accidentally leaves him exposed.
More common is the situation where a boy is temporarily disabled from a minor injury or illness and is recovering at home. Master may rent a hospital bed or the boy may be wearing things that cover part of his body or require changing or washing. The boy himself may also need to be washed or bathed. Master will make reasonable accommodations to ensure that the wearing, washing, or changing of any devices or supplies is permitted, even when it covers or blocks the view of the boy’s body parts. Master will also see to it that the boy is bathed and groomed, and the boy is required to cooperate with any assistants or volunteers.
A boy who is being treated or recovering at home from illness or injuries – no matter how minor in nature – is still required to remain naked and visible to anyone present, except as explained above. He may still be punished for misbehavior. This includes when awake and asleep, and during the changing or washing of himself or any supplies or device, and during other activities such as the application of topical ointments, undergoing physical therapy or enema treatments, and his other duties and chores to the extent that he may complete them without accommodation. Visitors are permitted and encouraged to observe the boy during these activities as a learning experience, and the boy is not excused from spankings due to violations of any rule unless it would interfere with his treatment in a substantial way.
This rule may be modified at any time to allow for better medical treatment or greater physical exposure of the boy at home, and the Master will make reasonable accommodations to deal with circumstances not specifically covered by this rule. Master will also listen to and consider any suggestions that the House Boy or anyone else makes about the boy’s care and treatment.
