The Master does not tattoo or permanently mark his House Boys, except that consideration of tattooing a QR Code with a link to these rules may be given to a boy who serves long term and expresses a strong desire to be permanently marked (See below, Rule #177). Prospective House Boys who already have tattoos must provide a photograph of each tattoo and explain the meaning of each tattoo. Once a boy with a tattoo is collared, he has no right to privacy of his tattoos and may be required to show his tattoos to the Master’s friends, house guests, or even curious strangers.

At home, the House Boy must always allow examination of his body art, except when doing so would interfere with his other duties or chores. This includes answering questions about how long he has had the tattoo, what the body art design means and who the artist was, and how it felt to be inked and whether he regrets getting the tattoo.

When traveling with the Master away from home, the House Boy has no right to privacy of his body art, and he is required to answer honestly any questions he receives about whether he has a tattoo, what design and colors it is, and offer to show his tattoo to anyone who verbally expresses an interest in it. When doing so would violate dress codes, the boy will offer to show images of the tattoos from a cell phone or portable device, and he has no right to privacy or to conceal the body part that is tattooed from being seen.

In the example photo, the Master and the boy are visiting some vanilla friends when someone notices the tattoo on the boy’s arm and begins a conversation about body art, leading to the friend ultimately asking if the boy has any other tattoos. The boy responds that he has a Smiley Face Tattoo on his buttocks and “Would you like to see it?” When the friend responds “Sure”, the boy is required to drop his shorts and display his buttocks so that the tattoo can be examined. The boy is not required to display his front side (unless there is more body art to be seen) but he must allow examination of the Smiley Face Tattoo by anyone who is present and wishes to take a look. If the conversation had taken place where exposing his buttocks would violate a dress code – say Starbucks, for example – the boy would have instead been required to show a photo of his tattooed buttocks and offer to allow examination of the tattoo at a later time.

The Master always has the right to tell anyone details about the boy’s body art, and to require the boy to show off his tattoos at any time. This includes showing or sending photos of the boy’s tattoos or even requiring the boy to remove clothing and display the tattoos at any time. If the boy is in a location where it isn’t possible because doing so would violate dress codes, the Master has the right to take the boy to a private location to have him undress so that the tattoo may be examined.
