Non-Disciplinary Corrective Action (Posture)

Non-Disciplinary Corrective Action may be applied to the House Boy’s body to fix incorrect posture and positioning, using hands-on adjustment to any body parts for the purpose of protocol awareness, education and compliance.

long text

Non-Disciplinary Corrective Actions are necessary and immediate reactions to situations and behavior that may not be punishable but need to be responded to promptly. Circumstances requiring immediate intervention may be brought on by a recently collared House Boy who fails to understand a rule or protocol, or by unanticipated predicaments due to outside circumstances or confusion about protocol application, especially when more than a single rule may apply.

In the example photo, the House Boy is given a Report Command (See below, Rule #211) and immediately but casually obeys using poor posture, slouching as he faces the Master waiting for follow-up instructions. Corrective Action is necessary to remind the House Boy that proper posture is part of every Report Command and that poor posture reflects poorly to others about the Master’s ability to manage household operations. Instead of punishing the House Boy, Master chooses to educate the House Boy using hands-on intervention to properly position his body parts for the Report Position.

Corrective Actions take place when needed, regardless of who may be present and could observe. Sometimes an immediate Freeze Command (See Index, Rule #204) will be given prior to the Corrective Action, and other times House Boy activity may be immediately interrupted for correction. When necessary, hands-on guidance or assistance may be used to move, position, wash, or otherwise correct the status or position of any body part, but is always done gently since Corrective Actions are not intended as discipline or punishment. That said, any disobedience or resistance to a Corrective Action may subject the House Boy to punishment for failure to follow instructions.

The House Boy is subject to Physical Inspection during or after any Corrective Action. Master has the right to authorize any guest or visitor to intervene when Corrective Action is necessary but will inform the House Boy of this authority in advance.
