For safety reasons, a House Boy who misbehaves in the swimming pool or whose misbehavior is reported or discovered while he is in the pool area shall not be disciplined while still in the swimming pool, except that a bare hand Level One Spanking in the Over The Knee position may be administered upon his bare bottom at water’s edge, though any punishment which calls for the use of an implement, enhancement or restraints must be moved indoors following a verbal announcement and Walk Of Shame, so that anyone else who happens to be present may exercise their right to either avoid or observe the disciplinary process.

Most violations by the House Boy are punishable with a Level One Spanking, which calls for bare hand swats to be administered onto his bare buttocks. Discipline usually takes place immediately, regardless of who may be present and could observe. First-time and minor violations may be excused with a warning or punished with a non-contact Level Zero Discipline like a Loss Of Privileges, while more serious misbehavior could draw higher levels of spankings using an implement or restraints, or even dismissal from service for, particularly egregious misbehavior.

During the warm weather season when the pool is maintained for daily use, the House Boy may be assigned water activities or participate in recreational swimming. In the event of a violation which is observed or discovered while the House Boy is in the pool, discipline may be necessary. For safety reasons, the House Boy will never be spanked while he is actually in the pool, except at the water’s edge in the Basic Over The Knee Position (Rule #158) as shown in the example photo. Only a bare hand Level One Spanking may be administered at this location, and any spanking which calls for use of an implement, restraints, or enhancement must be moved indoors following the requisite Walk of Shame (Rule #75). The Master has the right to announce and defer discipline until later if sensitive guests are present or punishment would disrupt the social atmosphere, but is not required to do so.

Nothing in this rule is to be interpreted as giving any House Boy the right to privacy. If any punishment is moved indoors, a guest who wishes to do so will not be prevented from following the House Boy indoors to the discipline area as long as the visitor properly dries off before entering and does not interfere with the Walk Of Shame or the discipline itself. Visitors who were unaware of what the House Boy did wrong or the specific punishment he is to receive will be provided this information on request, even if the actual punishment is deferred until another day or time.

As a courtesy to others, discipline will not be announced or administered while a House Boy is actively engaged in Competitive Water Sports (See below, Rule #303). If a House Boy is assigned Corner Time (See below, Rule #120) following a spanking at water’s edge, the designated ‘corner’ may be in the shallow end of the pool, on the entry steps to the pool where his body will be substantially out of the water, or entirely outside of the pool but visible to those who are swimming. If a House Boy who is serving Corner Time outdoors needs to Apply Sunscreen Or Skin Protectant (See below, Rule #36), the topical may be applied by the Master or a volunteer.
