Every prospective House Boy will be furnished a copy of the Appropriate Terminology Chart prior to his Pre-Collaring Interview. The Master will discuss the contents of the form and answer questions from the candidate at the interview, reminding him that only Appropriate Terminology should be used at all times even before collaring, except that the use of slang words or phrases (like cock or ass) is allowed only when directly quoting or repeating slang or after permission has been given for a specific reason, like to ask what an appropriate alternative would be for a slang word or phrase.

The Master will also strive to speak only Appropriate Terminology in public locations and in front of others who may be offended, though failure to do so is not an excuse for any applicant or House Boy to violate protocol except as noted above. By restricting conversations to Appropriate Terminology, the Master and the House Boy can carry on a conversation without the need to self-censor in most public circumstances, as well as in social situations with most visitors and clients. Candidates who are uncomfortable with listening to and speaking the specific words and phrases on the chart or who repeatedly use inappropriate terminology at the Pre-Collaring Interview or Inspection are unsuitable for collaring.
The requirement to use Appropriate Terminology also applies to sexual activities and bodily functions but does not preclude using what might be an otherwise inappropriate term in a properly defined manner, like the word ‘bitch’ to describe a female canine or the word ‘ass’ to describe the domesticated animal similar to a donkey. Some examples of Appropriate Terminology versus inappropriate slang are as follows:

• Penis instead of dick or cock
• Testicles instead of balls
• Scrotum instead of ball sack
• Vagina instead of pussy or cunt
• Intercourse instead of fucking
• Fellatio instead of blow job
• Anus instead of ass or asshole
• Urethra instead of piss hole
• Urinate instead of peeing or pissing
• Ejaculate instead of cumming
• Semen instead of jizz
• Erection instead of hard-on or boner
• Excrement instead of shit

Prospective House Boys are permitted to retain a copy of the Appropriate Terminology Chart on request, for study, and as a reminder of their obligations under this protocol. House Boys who use inappropriate terminology after collaring are subject to discipline.
