Every prospective House Boy will be furnished a copy of the Punishment Spanking Handouts at his Pre-Collaring Interview. The Master will discuss the contents of the form and explain the various levels of discipline, answering questions whenever possible or noting the question for follow-up during the Disciplinary Orientation module of the Pre-Collaring Inspection. The candidate will be reminded that punishment is usually administered when the House Boy is completely naked and that he has no right to privacy during discipline regardless of who happens to be present and could observe.

Punishment Spankings are a type of discipline where the House Boy has either behaved badly or broken a rule that both parties know by protocol may result in a spanking. Punishment spankings are an agreed consequence of the House Boy’s failure to meet expectations but are still followed by the Master’s forgiveness after the prescribed consequences have been met out. The important steps of ‘Confront, Chastise, then Comfort’ are an integral part of the process before, during, and after discipline. While the Master has the right to determine the number and strength of spanking swats and the level and physical position that will be administered, spankings are given as much for shame and correction than for actual pain. The Master is not a sadist, and an applicant who identifies as a masochist is often unsuitable for collaring. This does not mean that a House Boy will not experience discomfort or pain — he most certainly will — but that the purpose of discipline is correction through the shame or humiliation of physical exposure and emotional remorse while any direct or incidental pain is simply a collateral part of the experience.

Prospective House Boys will date and sign or initial each page of the Punishment Spanking Handout to indicate his consent prior to being spanked during the Disciplinary Orientation module at the Pre-Collaring Inspection. A copy of the signed Punishment Spanking Handout will be placed in the House Boy’s file after collaring and available for viewing by visitors upon request. The Master reserves the right to distribute unsigned copies of this handout to any person at any time.
