A Designated Smoking Area is provided at the corner of the property, and any House Boy who smokes or wishes to visit those who do is responsible for cleanup and regular maintenance of the area, and shall respectfully interact with any other smoker as if they are Temporary Master for the duration of their simultaneous presence inside the Designated Smoking boundary.

Smoking or vaping of cigarettes, pipes, cigars, e-cigarettes, and any other substance is prohibited inside the Master’s home, garage, and outbuildings, and is also prohibited outdoors on Master’s property in the pool and yard and all other areas except as noted below. The smoking prohibition applies equally to the House Boy and all visitors without exception. For guests who smoke, a Designated Smoking Area is provided at the rear corner of the property with limited seating and a table and ashtray for butts.

A House Boy who smokes is permitted to access and use the Designated Smoking Area in his free or recreational time unless he has been instructed not to do so. He is also responsible for maintenance and cleanup of the Designated Smoking Area as needed. This includes a weekly check and cleanup year-round, and daily checks and cleanup when the area is frequently used during the warm summer months in pool and backyard barbecue season. Since the entire back half of the property including the Designated Smoking Area is landscaped for privacy, the House Boy is required to remain naked while Smoking and Vaping (See below, Rule #93) and during the cleanup, though optional footwear and a cap or hat is permitted.

The Master does not smoke and does not visit the Designated Smoking Area unless summoned to do so, and even then only when a visit is absolutely necessary. This means the House Boy is under reduced oversight and supervision in this location. To counterbalance, any House Boy who enters the Designated Smoking Area agrees that Temporary Master Authority is silently transferred from the Master to whoever is present for the duration of time spent in this location, including the right to issue commands and instructions and to administer or waive Level One Discipline without notice to Master. As always, Master retains authority to investigate or discipline for unpunished violations at Level Two or higher — if reported after the fact — but has no authority to issue or prevent Level One Discipline since this authority was previously transferred away. Disputes among Temporary Masters over how to handle minor issues which take place or are discovered while the House Boy is in the Designated Smoking Area should be handled by majority vote among those present, with the House Boy having no right to vote except in case of a tie. Maximum discipline is limited to a Level One Spanking unless deferred and reported to the Master for follow-up.

In the example photo, a House Boy fires up a cigarette in the Designated Smoking Area while enjoying a cold drink on a warm summer afternoon. Although he is alone and appears to be unsupervised, a visitor could enter the Designated Smoking Area at any time and would have authority as Temporary Master to deal with minor violations like the wet towel which has been left on the ground to get dirty. This delegation of authority over minor issues in the Designated Smoking Area allows the Master to concentrate on more important things inside the house or off property, so it’s likely that only the Temporary Master and the House Boy will ever know whether the towel violation was serious enough to warrant a disciplinary spanking. Just like those Las Vegas commercials, what happens in the Designated Smoking Area, usually stays in the Designated Smoking Area.

Nothing in this rule prohibits a House Boy who does not smoke or vape from visiting others in the Designated Smoking Area during his free or recreational time, but he is subject to the same guidelines for nudity and supervision as the House Boy who smokes or vapes. A House Boy who does not smoke or vape and does not wish to be around cigarette smoke or vapors may request exemption from cleaning and maintaining the Designated Smoking Area, but he also gives up the right to visit others in the Designated Smoking Area for the duration of his service.
