Duties and Protocols – Use of Duct Tape to Silence (Duck Tape)
The Naked House Boy may have his mouth covered with tape when the Master feels it is necessary to silence the boy, either as punishment or for non-punishment reasons, including keeping a hyper boy silent so that the Master or others may enjoy music or conversation or silent time.
When the tape is installed for non-punishment reasons to keep the boy silent, the length of tape used will not be greater than the width of his mouth plus two inches on either side and will be removed gently at the conclusion of the silent period. The boy will be notified before taping (and given an opportunity to drink a glass of water) and will be exempt from taping if he has nasal congestion that could make breathing difficult. In these cases, he may subject to the use of a Single Restraint in another room or the backyard. (See below, Rule #110).
A House Boy who has violated a ‘Quiet’ Command (See below, Rule #209) or is otherwise acting out verbally may have his mouth taped without prior notice. Tape volume will be sufficient to keep the boy quiet but not wrap around into his hair or neck area. An additional strip may be placed over his penis to show others that his taping is disciplinary.
