The Master’s home is a ‘No Smoking’ area. Smoking of any substance anywhere inside the house, garage, or workshop is always prohibited for the House Boy and all guests. For guests who smoke, a small smoking area is provided at a far corner of the property, with a table and ashtray for butts.

House Boys who are smokers at the time they are collared are responsible for maintenance of the Smoking Area, including cleanup and discarding of ashes and butts. This is both a periodic chore (after special events like barbeques and pool parties) and also a weekly chore. Since the fenced yard is private, the House Boy is to remain naked for this duty, though footwear is optional. Cleanup of the Smoking Area is a scheduled task and will take place as assigned, regardless of who may be present and could observe.

The Master has few friends who ask to smoke here, so this duty is often canceled. The House Boy is not permitted to smoke during the cleanup, though he may do so during his recreational time. He is responsible for obtaining his own smoking materials. If a guest is using the smoking area, the boy has permission to use ten minutes of his recreational time to smoke in the smoking area, providing that his other duties are not impacted. The Master will work with boys to reduce their dependency on smoking if the boy wishes.

House Boys who were not smokers at the time they were collared are not required to clean up the Smoking Area. The Master will make other arrangements for cleanup. Guests will be advised that the House Boy is sensitive to smoking and smoking materials and is not required to enter the smoking area for any reason.

Unauthorized smoking by a House Boy is a progressive offense with a fixed penalty of ten swats. The first offense in a week (Sunday to Saturday) is a Level One, second offense Level Two, and Third offense Level Three. A fourth offense in a calendar week is an immediate Level Four dismissal. There will be no exceptions to this rule.

Guests who violate the smoking policy are subject to banishment after a warning by the Master. The House Boy must notify the Master of any violations by guests.
