Release
To loosen or temporarily remove the force or effect of that which acts as a restraint, confinement, servitude, or imposition on liberty, or that which confines, burdens, or oppresses. A deliverance from sorrow, suffering, or trouble, spiritual liberation from all earthly bondage.
When an individual feels a sense of 'removal of power' or 'removal of control' toward that which inflicts or appears to inflict upon them sorrow, suffering, burdens, or oppression, they may seek or tend to seek a vent to release or lessen the full measure of that binding over them. This vent may take the form of charged verbal displays, energized, agitated, or otherwise imbued with strong emotional power, actions of mental, emotional, or physical assault upon themselves or those in proximity to them. If the individual had a measure of 'control' over that which was assaulting their mental and emotional stability, then the need for the creation of such a vent would become nonexistent. Or, they could no longer justify the usage of this type of vent to 'manage', 'bleed off', or otherwise appear to temporarily 'balance' this effect. After creating a vent the individual may tend to manufacture or maintain structures or relationships which will appear to inflict suffering or trouble upon them and further may utilize 'public or modern' permissive understanding of 'addictive' type behaviors to escape full censure from others for the continuing or ongoing events of crisis, chaos, destructive or negative battery that they are exposing themselves to or placing themselves in positions to experience.
This individual may become 'addicted' to the relief they experience by utilizing a 'vent release' instead of developing, creating, or using a healthier management device. Some individuals can identify that nothing feels 'as good' as participating in the 'vent' of their choice. This becomes a form of 'reversed' pleasure seeking, which can equate to the levels of physical and mental expenditure and sensation that a person might experience after intense exercise, mental debate, sexual experience, or religious or spiritual offering. Fixing this type of behavior becomes a contest between recognition and acceptance of personal responsibility for the creation and sustainment of persons, places, or environments that tend to confine, burden, oppress, create sorrow, suffering, or other forms of personalized 'trouble' in the lives of the individual and 'enjoyment' of the 'release vehicle'. The individual may recognize that if or when they accept their actions to create or maintain these assaultive structures and remove them from their lives, that at the same time they are removing 'societal and personal permission' to utilize the vent which provides their 'fix' or chemically enhanced 'high'.
Solving their lifestyle choices may appear to remove their access to the component package of chemicals within their bloodstream, which enervate, exhilarate, and significantly stimulate their body and mind into an almost euphoric state during a 'venting release process'. At the same time, the individual is presented with an understanding that they have encouraged and enjoyed this vent even when the activation and usage of this vent is received by others as a form of verbal, mental, spiritual, emotional, or physical assault (or a mirror of what the individual has experienced). In some ways, the individual is 'repackaging' their experience and 'attacking' others, including themselves, with the same 'energy bombs'. This idea or image that they have taken 'pleasure' and that pleasure has contributed to their remaining within a violent or assaultive environment can be painful and destructive in its own right. The individual may not see the entirety of the picture, but only understand that on some levels they enjoy or take pleasure in the internal warfare or underlying conflict between themselves and those they are in closest proximity to. To copy a popular cliché, "There is no such thing as 'bad' attention."
By removing the 'high' at the end of the event, a certain amount of the motivation to maintain destructive, violent, or assaultive relationships is removed. This 'high' can be understood and altered if the individual seeks out choices which can 'duplicate' the chemistries and sense of personal accomplishment and euphoria that the individual has become addicted to in their cheap but 'damaging' fix. These alternatives may include some or all of the following,
Comprehensive daily vitamin and mineral intakes (so that the body chemistry is forcibly healthy and balanced), a balanced diet, regular or daily exercise (this is also a reinforcement or investment in the self, which forces the individual to view themselves as of value),
Involvement with structured verbal debate, intellectual debate, or mental problem-solving. (This can include book reading or taking challenging classes, which offer a level of significant stimulation to the mind.)
Social interaction, without the presence of crisis, need, or any other imposition of 'trouble or problems', is primary to the neutral exchange of ideas and feelings, learning how to create and maintain simple friendships in a healthy and nondestructive way. This can be addressed by many forms, such as volunteerism, which requires the individual to 'give' instead of 'receive' energy and attention, which can, in turn, offer the individual a way to elevate their perceptions of themselves or see themselves in a positive light.
Spiritual or religious offering can be addressed by actions as simple as daily meditation, reading aloud simple positive messages, setting aside time to visit venues which offer experiences of great music, art, or creativity, or the opportunity to spend time within nature as part of the addressment of the spirit. By identifying the importance of this 'time', the individual is again creating within themselves a point of recognition of personal value.
Sexual Experiences. The reproductive or sexual systems within the body can be viewed as significant and important to the mental and physical health of the individual. If the individual does not experience or use this system regularly, then the function or natural flow of this system within the body can become blocked, damaged, or skewed. Daily or regular release of this energy or use of this bodily system can prevent the reproductive system from compressing into explosive bursts (euphoric highs potentially coupled to inappropriate behavior). The natural pattern or rhythm of the individual is unique to the individual. If a sexual partner is not present or the existence of a partner is not desirable to the individual, then the person should take measures to release this system through forms of sexual release, which might include masturbation as well as forms of meditation that focus on sexual energy release.
When the individual no longer 'needs' a high or fix, then the actions of voluntarily participating in abusive, violent, or destructive relationships will diminish or cease at the point when rational thought replaces 'need'.
The concept is to focus on positive processes instead of pouring energy into the black abyss of self-centeredness (I am a victim and therefore have the right to be ugly syndrome). It is the simple decision to direct 'positive' energy at the self instead of 'negative' energy. By no longer giving the 'self' permission to identify its 'role' in the world as that of 'oppressed, victimized, subjugated, confined or controlled by others, ' the individual must face the much more complex and frightening prospect of discovering who they are without using this 'role' as a crutch to 'explain or express or condone' their behavior and choices.
This process creates a greater euphoria, a greater release from self-imposed and inflicted suffering.
