The Voice
The Voice, language, command structures, and delivery are perhaps the least understood, most elusive, and hardest to convey concepts in text form. What occurs in the bonding process is a combination of all of these things and more.
Bonding: Bonding is a process of attachment. This attachment is not based on love, though there is often an initial stage of triggered excitement, which releases chemistries into the bloodstream and can produce states of euphoria when in contact with the source of attachment. This can easily be equated to infatuation, or extreme mental stimulation immediately upon contact. This initial bonding or penetration of the mind/spirit/body is usually followed by frequent contacts to 're-inforce' the connection. This is similar in many ways to 'brainwashing' techniques, or even the techniques used by religious or political groups to orient the individual into certain channels in the brain. It could be considered a form of enthrallment, capture, and non-consensual bondage.
Bonding and attachment occur to both the Dominant and the submissive, though the intensity appears to be stronger on the part of the submissive in most cases. In many ways, the Dominant penetrates the light shielding of the submissive. This occurs often with the willful aid of the submissive. A submissive 'seeking' a Dominant partner will frequently 'open' or lower their outer barriers or shields in the necessary effort to 'align' with the potential mate. To some extent, there appears to be a period of time where the Dominant and submissive attempt to 'match frequencies', rather like a radio signal.
This relinquishing of barriers on the part of the submissive is not without risk. In most cases, if the submissive encounters a Dominant that is not a good match for them, then the submissive will not 'hear' or 'tune in' to that Dominant's voice. Being a good match does not mean that the Dominant that they 'hear' is a good person. It merely means that the components inside both people align well.
When a submissive is unattached or unbonded, s/he may walk around openly scanning for 'the Voice'. This potentially makes that same submissive vulnerable to being 'taken' by any aware Dominant whom that submissive may 'hear'. In addition, an unattached submissive can and may enter public spaces when in close proximity to an emoting Dominant. The submissive will 'hear' the Dominant and essentially wait for 'command'. If the Dominant person remains unaware of the submissive, they will at some point move out of 'range' of the submissive, and the submissive will resurface. The submissive will not 'bond' unless the Dominant turns their 'focus' or directed 'energy' into the submissive. This usually requires multiple contacts.
The 'Voice' is not entirely verbal communication. From the Dominant's perspective, there is a sense of sending information 'at' the submissive. This can be both verbal and mental. There is directed intent. The Dominant is acutely 'aware' of the submissive, and the delivery of command tends to feel more like packaged groups or clusters of information than the simple apparent usage of verbal language, which appears on the surface. Often, the Dominant will learn to groom their physical voice and discover and use particular inflections of sound which appear to penetrate the resistance of the subject's submissive. Feelings, emotions, and desires are projected along this same connective frequency, sometimes without the companion word structures.
It is the Dominant's desire to intercede with and override what you might consider to be the software programming inside the submissive's brain. Alignment in some ways appears to open a conduit into the interior programming of the submissive. The Dominant may wish to control certain ideology, thought, and responses inside the very core of the submissive's Command Center. In some ways, they may appear to 'attack' the independent programming and overwrite that programming with directives or alignments directly to their command and design.
This is usually done through the creation and application of 'rules' in the relationship. The Dominant will desire for the submissive to conform to their personal rules. This indoctrination period is literally the 'taking' of the submissive. The simplest way for a Dominant to accomplish this is through frequent repetitious sounds, directives, and commands. The simpler the form, the more successful it will be. From the submissive's perspective, all applicable decision-making processes will include an awareness of and responsibility to the rules and requirements of the Dominant prior to execution.
For a submissive to 'detach' from a strong Dominant is quite difficult, even when both submissive and Dominant willfully agree to separate. They must be able to blockade the 'Voice'. This is generally impossible if the submissive remains in physical proximity to the Dominant. Severance of contact, physical or phone, may be necessary for a considerable time frame for the 'programming' to dissipate and the shielding or buffers of the submissive to be reinstated. That submissive will continue to be susceptible to the Dominant as those access corridors may continue to exist over the duration of that submissive's life. However, when the submissive attaches to a new Dominant, that new Dominant's voice will form a shield that makes it virtually impossible for the submissive to 'hear' other Dominant voices in the same way. In a sense, the submissive would have to 'hear through' the filtered shielding of their Dominant. The submissive will continue to be aware of or recognize other Dominants by their emoting presence, but will, in most cases, not be vulnerable to being affected by them.
However, it is possible for a submissive who is bonded and attached to be taken by a Dominant who is stronger than their Dominant. This occurrence is quite rare as it is considered extremely bad form for a Dominant to trespass upon another Dominant's submissive. In general, within the community, a Dominant will actively 'not emote or project energy' at or toward any submissive, not their own.
The level or strength of a Dominant's presence appears to be directly connected to their DNA or genetics. Most strong Dominants come from long lines of Dominants in their genealogical history. Some Dominants are born with the ability to wield 'the Voice' far more effectively than others. Some submissives are born with the ability to 'receive' or 'hear' far more acutely than others. This tends to be connected to the potential strength or depth of that submissive as well. The further the submissive can go, the potentially deeper the connectors can become.
The predisposition to 'project' instead of 'receive' signals can or may be triggered initially by a life event. The Dominant will often find themselves using projection techniques in all areas of their lives. There is the suggestion of subtle manipulation or control that radiates outward. Some discover ways to 'create' or 'cause to occur' actions positive or aligned favorably to the desires of the Dominant. The stronger the Dominant is, the more likely this is to exist.
The Dominant also hears the submissive. When a Dominant is deeply bonded or attached to a submissive, there is a sensation of being 'within' the submissive. This is to be inside the very core of the submissive, to feel the movement of their inner self. Some Dominants will find that they 'hear' most Submissives. This can create problems when the Dominant 'knows' that a submissive (not their own) is in trouble in, say, a public scene. In the vanilla world, this Dominant may find themselves caught in situations where their senses indicate or trigger the protective aspect of the inner self into action, sometimes on behalf of total strangers.
