The Master provides his House Boy with a bicycle for exercise and short errands during times when using an automobile is inefficient or otherwise undesirable. The Master also provides the boy with a secure chain or cable lock. The House Boy is required to securely lock the bicycle at all times – whether on the Master’s property or off – unless the bicycle is stored in a secure garage or another outbuilding that is itself locked. Bicycle locks will be of a combination or other keyless mechanism to prevent the boy from having to secure a key while he rides.

In the example photo, the House Boy prepares to attach a cable chain to the secure locking mechanism, which he will wrap through the bicycle and around its frame, which is parked next to other guest’s bikes in the Master’s backyard. The Master hosts one “Arrive By Bike” event every summer to encourage guests to save on gas, and the House Boy acts as Bicycle Chauffeur for the arriving guests.

The House Boy is not required to ride any bicycle naked from the Master’s property onto the public street, since local law prohibits full nudity in public places. the Master is sad about that fact and hopes that the law can someday be changed, so that others may also enjoy this view of the naked boy holding his equipment.
