Each full-time House Boy will be given the option to have soil space set aside for a personal garden if he so requests. The House Boy will be permitted to make his own decisions about when to plant or harvest, and crop choices will be made at the mutual agreement of the Master and House Boy. 

The House Boy is only permitted to work in his garden during his free or Recreational Time and must do so naked, regardless of who else may be present (or drop-in) and could observe. Footwear and hats are optional. The Master will select garden space that is not casually visible from the street or any neighbor’s property. The boy is subject to inspection and clean-up by any means during or after gardening. The most common means of easy cleanup is hosing off, though this method is not used during the colder winter months. 

When a House Boy is scheduled to water or otherwise tend to outdoor plants or shrubbery on the Master’s property, he may take up to ten minutes in his garden space without asking for specific permission or using his recreational time. He must also cooperate with guests who express an interest in his garden by showing them his plants and gardening techniques when they make such a request to the Master and the Master approves. The Master will furnish all gloves, tools, and implements for a successful garden.
