The Master’s home is a friendly and accepting place. The command “Hug” may be given by the Master or a guest at any time. The house boy shall graciously accept any hug so offered, and shall promptly act to carry out a hug that is passively invited by outstretched arms. The boy is not allowed to pull away otherwise resist a hug that lasts less than 60 seconds, and he must use good judgment when conflicts arise between orders to hug and his other duties and responsibilities. Hug orders are invalid during any exercise time and any punishment but must be obeyed during routine chores, grooming, bathing, inspections, etc. A hug may also be ordered by the Master following Corner Time. The house boy may only be awakened for a hug when guests arrive or leave the property, or if the house boy is intoxicated, ill, or overnighting away from home. Hugs that take place during the boy’s sleep or nap hours are covered by a separate rule (Non-Verbal Command: Hug).
