When traveling to a public beach where nudity is prohibited, the House Boy may be directed to wear white underwear instead of shorts or trunks. Underwear will be of a cotton style with a double thickness pouch which is sufficient to cover the boy’s genital area and keep him out of trouble with the law. The Master will decide whether the boy is to wear only the white skivvies or will be allowed to put on shorts or trunks. The boy may wear a shirt and hat or cap if he wishes. Wearing only white underwear in public is not against the law where the Master lives, so the boy has no reason to complain if he is instructed to enjoy his beach recreation dressed in this manner. The boy may choose to answer questions about his underwear either honestly (‘I’m not allowed to wear anything else’) or creatively (‘I forgot my swim trunks today’).
