The Naked House Boy has a schedule of duties and chores to complete, including bathing and grooming. These take place at assigned times, regardless of who may be present and could observe.

When it is necessary due to time constraints or for any other reason, the Master may permit a house guest or other volunteer to keep the boy on schedule. One of the ways this can occur is to allow a volunteer to help the boy with one grooming task or chore while the boy completes another.

In the example shown, the House Boy has just begun washing his hands and face when a guest notices that it is time for the boy’s body shaving to begin. Normally, Master might spank the boy for failing to keep on schedule, but on this occasion, the younger guest has kindly told Master that he is willing to assist with the next chore to prevent the boy from being subject to punishment, and Master has gratefully accepted the offer for the guest to shave the boy’s body hair.

In circumstances like these, the House Boy has no say in whether a helper is used or what chore a helper assists with. The House Boy must follow the rules and remain naked and cooperate fully or risk punishment for falling behind schedule or being uncooperative. Master appreciates offers by others to assist the boy with any duty or chore, and these offers are usually accepted unless there is a good reason not to.
