The House Boy will be responsible for ironing items only on as ‘As Ordered’ basis. Ironing is rarely done these days, and this rule will probably fade away in 2017 or 2018. It remains in the Rule Book because hotels and motels sometimes still have irons in the rooms so that clothing may be touched up after traveling by car or air. Master has an iron at home, which was used one time in 2015. Guests are not permitted to bring clothing over for the boy to iron. Boys who have never used an iron will be trained in its use by one of Master’s friends or relatives. The House Boy is required to remain naked for all ironing and training, though footwear is optional.
