Shower Exemption While Wearing Casts
When a House Boy is wearing a cast of any size on any part of his body, he is exempt from the requirement to shower and will instead submit to a supervised Tub Bath, keeping the casted body part out of the water or wrapped in plastic, with washing assistance to be provided by the Master or a volunteer as needed for safety.

The House Boy is required to remain naked at home and has no right to physical privacy. In addition to his scheduled household duties and chores, he must maintain proper grooming and a clean presentation at all times. This includes scheduled shower times, and regular inspections to ensure that protocol is followed and standards are maintained. The bathroom door must remain open during showering and grooming to allow for supervision regardless of who may be present and could observe Tub Baths (Rule #133) are generally prohibited, except under the specific instruction of the Master, usually when there is an issue with water pressure or other special consideration.
When a House Boy is wearing a cast of any size on any part of his body, he may be required to use bathtub facilities instead of taking a conventional shower. The protocol calls for him to request supervision prior to entering the tub, and the Master will assist with washing and rinsing properly, as well as safe entry and exit from the tub. This task may be assigned to an able-bodied volunteer if one is available. Care must be taken to keep the task dry, either by leaving the covered body part out of the water or wrapping it in plastic or both if practical.
When wearing a cast, the House Boy is not responsible for self-drying or cleaning up wet floors unless he may do so safely. Master or the assistant will tend to these duties, with the House Boy assigned to do only what is safe. If a volunteer assistant is available, he or she shall be considered Temporary Master for the duration of time the House Boy is in the bathroom during bathing and cleanup, with authority to issue instructions pursuant to applicable protocols and administer Level One Discipline when necessary.
Master recognizes the inconvenience and extra time which is needed to wash and groom while wearing a cast, and will consider requests by the House Boy to reassign or reschedule washing and grooming times but is not obligated to grant any such request. Preference will be given to using a volunteer assistant (when available) over time shifting any showering or bathing if such can be accommodated safely given consideration of time and circumstances. A House Boy who is assigned to wear a cast or faux cast as part of a Disability Awareness Educational Initiative is required to adhere to this protocol the same as if the cast is being worn due to prior injury.
