The House Boy will have his scrotum inspected weekly to watch for changes in health or other issues. This is a scheduled duty and will take place at the assigned day and time, regardless of who may be present and could observe. Scrotum Inspections may also be ordered randomly or when an issue is reported by a guest to the Master.

The protocol calls for the boy to assume the position ordered and place his hands and arms at his side or behind his back to allow access to the inspection area. The scrotum will be gently grasped and lightly massaged to feel for skin issues, ingrown hairs, or other problems. The testicular examination may or may not be checked at the same time, though the testicular inspection is covered under another rule. The scrotum circumference will usually be measured to watch for changes and will be recorded by the House Boy in his journal.

For safety reasons, volunteers will not be permitted to conduct combined scrotum and testicular inspections, though they may be allowed to conduct a scrotal skin inspection and measurement under the supervision of the Master. A scrotum inspection or measurement will never be taken while the boy’s temperature is being taken by an anal thermometer.
