Assessment and Screening —
Strip Search Record Sheet

Strip Search Record

At the Pre-Collaring Inspection, the applicant will be instructed to present himself completely naked, and visual inspection will be conducted on the candidate’s ears, nose, mouth, armpits, navel, pubic hair region, penis, scrotum, scalp, facial hair, chest, back, hands and fingers, buttocks, anus, and feet including toes.

Should the visual Strip Search identify possible issues or areas of concern, the applicant will be flagged for Secondary Inspection of the Body part or area so flagged. The primary difference between this inspection and the secondary examination is that the Strip Search is primarily a visual examination and the follow-up is a hands-on secondary examination which may require that body parts be carefully examined or tested for tendon reflex, temperature sensitivity, allergen response, discharge, etc.

When two or more applicants are present for simultaneous or overlapping Pre-Collaring Inspections, the Master reserves the right to assign applicants to assist in examining each other to save time. All inspections or examinations will be supervised by the Master at all times. In the unlikely event an applicant is flagged for a secondary examination of a body part or region which is not listed on both forms, the candidate is subject to a Full Body Secondary Inspection.

The Strip Search Record Sheet is the same form used for in-service House Boys after collaring, though the form is usually referred to as the Body Search Record Sheet since the House Boy already serves naked and there is no need to ‘strip’. Protocols for the two inspections are otherwise the same. In both instances, the searchee is subject to cleanliness and grooming protocols and may be required to shower or submit to grooming in order to facilitate inspection. Pre-collaring applicants will not be shaved or otherwise groomed without prior consent, except to facilitate a flagged secondary examination of a body part or area which is not normally visible while wearing the clothing he reported to for the Pre-Collaring Inspection.

House Boys have no right to privacy during any inspection, regardless of who may present and could observe. The Master will consider requests for privacy during secondary examinations prior to collaring.
